In this paper the main focus is the reflections on the complexity of people’s interaction with art in the urban environment of Imperial Rome through a balanced analysis of literary sources with a sensorial approach. This paper takes into consideration a precise case study, the Saepta Iulia or, simply, Saepta, a monumental complex in the central section of the Campus Martius that changed purposes throughout the centuries.
