Abstract

Among escalating ecological dilemmas and the significant societal emphasis on sustainable development objectives, the drive towards sustainable product innovation has received attention from scholars and industry professionals. This research aims to scrutinize the impact of team dynamics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) deployment on supporting firms’ capability for sustainable innovation. Anchoring on the literature on team effectiveness and the AI-enhanced double diamond model, this study proposes hypotheses regarding how teams can harness their competencies alongside AI’s potential to propel sustainable product innovation. The present research envisions an empirical investigation involving manufacturing firms to validate the proposed hypotheses. Consequently, the study may outline theoretical contributions and practical implications arising from empirical findings, advocating for a strategic synergy between team attributes and AI engagement to secure a competitive advantage in sustainability-driven innovation. The research may contribute to the theoretical frameworks on team effectiveness, new product development, and AI-enhanced methods.
