Throughout the activities of MAIKE during the 2013 campaign, the work of the University of Naples “Federico II” équipe was focused on the pottery from saggio 1 in the Area XX of the city of Kyme. The assemblage of fine wares is rather notable and among them there are two remarkable items: first of all, the absolute preeminence of ESC (fully in line with the self-consumption trend already well clarified for kymean market); then, the significant percentage of fragments datable to the middle imperial period (the so-called ‘Late ESC’), among which is remarkable the Pergamon plate H2, dated to Severian. These new data brought new light on Kyme during the 3rd century C.E. and stimulated a new survey on the Late ESC yet published from the aeolic city. The main aim of this paper is searching, for the kymean context, further tangible ‘visions’ on a traditionally dark period for the Pars Orientis.
