A second-order continuum model to represent the non-local behaviour field of periodic masonry is presented. The overall elastic moduli and inertia terms of the second-order equivalent continuum are obtained by a computational homogenization procedure. Characteristic lengths and dispersive waves are analysed and some features of the material response are discussed.
