This article presents the preliminary results of two years of research at Pompeii within the framework of the PRAEDIA project, which aims to contribute to a more detailed knowledge of Pompeii’s south-eastern periphery. In 2021-2022 research focused on the so- called Complesso dei Riti Magici, possibly used for the cult of the eastern god Sabatius. At least two main building phases took place during the Hellenistic period, beginning in the late third or early second century BC. During the early imperial age, houses equipped with a compluvium-impluvium system occupied this area of the town, following their predecessors’ layout. The earlier structures were destroyed to make room for the large courtyards of the Complesso dei Riti Magici likely after 62 AD, at a time when most buildings on Via di Nocera had been transformed into hybrid houses with inns.
